help me eat at a restaurant

hear ye, hear ye all lords and ladies in the court of the queen and king of free.  there will be a most royal of tournaments.

your humble KoF shall decide the locale of his firsl meal at an eatery outside his castle by tournament. there will be no jousting. it’s not that kind of tournament.  the KoF prefers a bracket.

next sunday is selection sunday.  64 central indiana restaurants will vie for the honor of being the king’s first restaurant meal in 2 years and (by the time of the championship) 4 months.  the QoF and I have about half of the field selected but will be taking suggestions until selection sunday, April 22, 2012.

the plan is to have brackets available to the court and submitted back to the KoF or QoF before the tournament begins.  we’re contemplating a prize for the best bracket.  officialish rules will be released on selection sunday.  make your suggestions.  we listen. we really do.  if you are a restauranteer or know one, pass this info along.  here are some suggestions for your suggestions:

no smoking.  if the restaurant allows smoking, it’s not making the cut.  if it somehow slips into the field, it has no chance of winning. none.

no fast food.  it ain’t gonna happen.  i get the: i’m frugal, keep it to the dollar menu thing. no way on the first meal back. or possibly ever.

easy on the chains.  there will be some chain restaurants in the field, but very few.  let’s keep it local. indiana based chains will have a better shot.

local to indy.  central indiana.  the KoF is unlikely to travel outside this geographic area.  indiana based chains will have a better shot.  i smelled the best smelling biscuit i’ve ever smelled in nashville, tn.  my heart aches for frontera’s guacamole in chicago, il.  but, either you’re proud of where you’re from or you move.  i believe metro indianapolis has some amazing eateries.  let’s do this.

I second the Papa Roux & 3 Sisters Cafe suggestions, and Bub’s is another fun place. Scotty’s Lakehouse is my favorite, but would be a long trip for you guys. The Local is another local-food-type place (and, if you come, stop by our house! It’s right down the street). Mama Carolla’s would be a nice date destination.

You must go to The Local! It’s a haul up to the N side, but so worth it! Carmel/Westfield area. Everything is mastered to perfection! All locally sourced and a one and only. I’ve moved to OH & I miss it!!! Chef Craig Baker has been featured around town and is truly an artist.
