#4 We Shared Our Story
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:5 ESV
Being in debt is embarrassing. It can be crippling, especially if you think you are alone – or that someone may find out. Maybe it will tarnish your reputation. Maybe folks will think less of you. Maybe people will talk about you behind your back. Maybe it will hurt you professionally. This. Is. What. Darkness. Does. Darkness tells you lies. You repeat the lies to yourself. Fear sets in. Enslavement somehow becomes comforting.
Defeating darkness requires light. Light casts out darkness. You belong to the light. You are not alone. You do not have to remain in the darkness. Telling your story eliminates anyone “finding out.” It is liberating. It is exhilarating. It is powerful. In fact, sharing our story, cash flowing emergencies, and burying the Dragon once and for all rank 1,2,3 as the most liberating parts of our DSJ.
