5th house on the right

at the T intersection you're gonna make a left and it will be the 5th house on the right.  unequivocally, those were the single greatest set of directions i've ever received. eh - ver.once upon a time, before the royal couple was . . . well . . . the royal couple, they were just a lady and a lord. beautiful. gallant. but, not enough battle scars or singed clothing from the breath of the debt dragon to earn the title of king and queen. not yet. the story of how they met is extraordinary. alas, … [Read more...]

cookies? really?

be it decreed that june was a bad month. parts of the end of may weren't spectacular either.  what happens to you doesn't have to happen in you.  there were highights:still no restaurants.  i'm in a wedding three hours away from home over the 4th of July weekend and that may present a challenge.  and while i'm perfectly content with declining fogo de chao when prepared to do so; if i'm not paying attention, and if i've been in the sun at a parade, and if it's been a long-time since breakfast, i … [Read more...]

Prevalence, while adding to temptation, is not the sole bearer of culpability. I blame the Joneses. The Joneses are your metaphorical negative subculture and i'm not sure why … [Read more...]

This one time, I killed a bear

Today, I did not eat at a restaurant.  I did, however, take my Queen to Qdoba.  Major muscle memory must survive a 1.25 year hiatus because I found my hand gravitating toward a basket of chips.  Mmmm chips.  My past experience where I killed a bear sure did help me resist that crisp, salty, fried-empty- carbohydrate goodness.  There's this story about this kid who killed this giant with this slingshot.  Amazing event.  But, in its retelling, certain details are often neglected.  This wasn't a … [Read more...]
